Collette Vacations Offers New Israel Tour
Collette Vacations has announced a new tour for 2012, “Israel: A Journey to the Holy Land.” The 10-day guided tour visits historic sites and cities such as the Mount of Beatitudes, Masada, Dead Sea, Jaffa, Caesaria, Nazareth, Cana, Qumran, Bethlehem, Tel Aviv, Tiberias and Haifa.
Tour members also will visit Acre, the ancient crusader city and UNESCO World Heritage site; Jerusalem’s Old City; and the ruins of Jericho, the oldest city in the world.
An optional Jordan four-day extension in Jordan will visit the ancient “lost city” of Petra; the beautiful desert of Wadi Rum; Madaba, known as the “City of Mosaics;” and Amman, the capital of Jordan.
Tour highlights include a “float” in the tranquil, healing waters of the Dead Sea; ascending the ancient walls of Masada, a UNESCO World Heritage site, by cable car; a tour and lunch at a local community restaurant in a kibbutz; following the Via Dolorosa and walking the path of the Stations of the Cross in Jerusalem; a journey to Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus; and a visit to the area of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
Cost of the tour starts a $1,799 per person, double, land only, and includes 15 meals. (800-611-3361, www.collettevacations.com)
